A parent’s worst fear came to life in Spain when a tragic accident on an airport conveyer belt resulted in the death of their 5 month old baby on Thursday. Police are now investigating conflicting reports of what exactly happened to cause the little boy to be killed.

It is being reported that the baby’s family were in Europe on vacation from Gatwick Airport in London. The time of the accident was just after midnight, at the conveyer belt where passengers large items of luggage like a surfboard or a guitar are delivered.

Early reports suggest that the baby may have been placed on the conveyer belt while his mother was reaching for something. While on the belt the baby could have been crushed by the belt, when it was activated by the little boy’s weight.

Paramedics arrived on the scene, but it was too late and he was pronounced dead on the scene. A post-mortem examination is expected to take place later today or tomorrow. The nationality of the baby and the family is yet to be confirmed, as they are believed to be from Britain or The United States.
