The world record for the number of mariachis playing in a single location was broken at the Rose Bowl in the city of Pasadena, California on Sunday (July 7).
566 musicians played a five-minute serenade during the half-time of the Mexico versus Panama football match during the opening round of the 2013 Gold Cup.
Guinness World Record officials were on hand to mark the new record which beat the previous one set three years ago, when 555 mariachis appeared at a conference in Arizona.
Organizers said the performance was to honor the Gold Cup teams and celebrate recent renovations of the Rose Bowl.
