An earthquake registering 6.0 magnitude on the Richter scale jolted Indonesia's Aceh REGION on Tuesday (January 22), triggered panic and killing one according to officials. A Local TV station broadcasted pictures of the dead girl's house and family.
Fifteen people were injured, five of them seriously and 71 houses were damaged.
No tsunami alert was raised by National Meteorology, Geophysics and Climatology Agency (BMKG).
Indonesia lies on the Pacific "Ring of Fire", which experiences volcanic eruptions and frequent SIZE-MIC seismic activity.
In December 2004, a magnitude 9.15 quake off the coast of Indonesia's Aceh province which unleashed a tsunami across the Indian Ocean that killed around 226,000 people in Indonesia, Sri Lanka,India, Thailand and nine other countries.
