Born and raised in a remote village of Dang District in Western Nepal, 72 year old Chandra Bahadur Dangi didn't know that he might indeed be the world's shortest man.

Only due to recent media reports, the Guinness Book of World records became aware of the man and are sending representatives to Kathmandu to verify whether he can be given the title.

According to the Associated Press, Dangi is only 22 inches tall.

The current Guinness World Records title of the shortest man is with Junrey Balawing of the Philippines, who is 23.5 inches (60 centimeters) tall.

Dangi's nephew Dolak Dangi said yesterday that his uncle would be meeting the Guinness officials in Katmandu over the next few days to be measured.
