Thai police arrested a cyber crime suspect wanted by the United States for allegedly stealing millions of dollars, officials in Bangkok said on Monday (January 7). Officials in Bangkok said on Monday that Hamza Ben-dell-adj, an Algerian national, was detained on Sunday (January 6) at a Bangkok airport, during his transit flight from Malaysia to Egypt. Bendelladj was arrested following the issue of an arrest warrant by a court in the U.S. state of Georgia. Thai police said the suspect, who appeared in handcuffs, smiling broadly for the media, was suspected of hacking into private accounts from 217 banks and financial companies world-wide. Thai officials said Bendelladj would be extradited to the U.S. as soon as possible.
