The annual lion dance competition kicked off on Monday evening (February 11) in Myanmar a day after the lunar new year ushered in the Year of the Snake.
The event drew hundreds of people to the Chinatown area where fireworks were set off and balloons floated were set loose in the air.
While the competition is held locally every year, the organizers hope the winners will move on to compete internationally.
Dancers with best performance and costumes will be crowned the winners in the contest.
The winning group will receive an undisclosed cash prize on Thursday (February 14).
