Apple's iPhone 5 was launched in South Korea on Friday (December 7), the heartland of the iPhone manufacturer's chief rival Samsung Electronics, as the two companies square off again in court. Samsung is Apple's fiercest global business rival and their battle for customers' allegiance is helping shape the landscape of the booming smartphone and tablet industry. Even though South Korea is Samsung's homeland, a Seoul store was filled with customers wanting to buy Apple's latest gadget. According to industry data, Samsung is dominating the smartphone market in South Korea by nearly 70 percent but iPhone 5 is expected to boost sales in the country, expanding Apple's market share. The phone was released in the United States on September 21, but South Korean customers have had to wait about four months to be able to buy the product..
