Apple’s latest mobile operating system called iOS 6 is set to be released on Wednesday and the company announced last week that the system would be made available for all the supported devices, including the iPhone, iPad and iPod. iOS 6 will be released as a free update to iOS users on September 19, just two days before the launch of the iPhone 5 on Friday, Sept. 21.
The operating system will come with more than 200 new features that include the new Maps app, Facebook integration, Passbook organization, an enhanced Siri, the ability to make FaceTime calls over a cellular network and much more.
Apple continued to soar in late morning trading Tuesday, as shares of the tech giant were up nearly $1 to $700.76 before dipping 3 cents to $699.75 in the mid-afternoon. Apple said pre-orders for the iPhone 5 sold more than 2 million in the first 24 hours and were more than double those for the iPhone 4S.
