It was a perfect Paris Saint Germain debut for former England captain David Beckham on Sunday (February 24) after his team gained a 2-0 victory against Ligue 1 rivals Olympique Marseille in the French capital.
The 37-year-old, who has joined the wealthy capital club on a five-month deal, replaced Javier Pastore in the 75th minute to the delight of a roaring home crowd.
Beckham, who sat on the bench after the packed stadium welcomed him to The Beatles song "Hey Jude", immediately produced a trademark long pass before joining in with a sterling defensive performance.
Although short, the performance of the new star recruit went down well with Parisian supporters:
Beckham's celebrity lifestyle epitomises PSG's lavish spending policy as the Qatar-backed club have poured over 200 million euros (175 millionpounds) into transfers in the last two years, in sharp contrast with Marseille's frugal philosophy.
