A British tourist jumped from the balcony of her hotel fearing an attack by the hotel owner after he persistently knocked at her door in the middle of the night, police said on Tuesday (March 19). Police said Tuesday the woman was staying at a hotel in Agra, home to the famous Taj Mahal monument. Officials say the incident happened at around 4.00 am, when the hotel owner, Sachin Chauhan, repeatedly offered her an oil massage. The 30-year-old woman jumped from the balcony in fear, after the owner was joined by his security guard, continuing to knowck at the door. She sustained injuries to her legs after falling to the ground, but still made it to the police station to lodge a complaint. Police said the owner had been booked under section 354 of India's penal code, which deals with 'assault or criminal force to a woman with intent to outrage her modesty'. India's tourism minister K Chiranjeevi has ordered the suspension of the three-star rating of the hotel. The latest incident comes as the lower house of India's parliament passed an anti-rape bill, nearly three months after a 23-year-old student was attacked in a moving bus in a case that sparked outrage in the country. She later died in hospital in Singapore. Video Source: Reuters
