Nearly 3000 demonstrators, led by Buddhist monks, took to the streets of Yangon on Monday, to oppose a plan to set up an office of the Organization of Islamic Committee, saying it will only benefit Muslims in the Rakhine state crisis.
The OIC is the largest Muslim Body: It signed an agreement last month with the Myanmar government to open an office in the country, which is set to deliver humanitarian aid in the western Rakhine state.
Buddhist monks also led other protests in major cities.
