A crane on top of a building in Sydney, Australia, caught fire on Tuesday (November 27).
Local media said witnesses saw the crane burning and swaying on the University of Technology's (UTS) site in inner Sydney, shortly before its arm collapsed.
Local media reported that the crane's driver managed to flee the blazing structure.
Hundreds of people were evacuated from the university and nearby office buildings. It was not clear how the fire started.
Local media reported Australian Union officials as saying they believed it was diesel fuel stored on the crane that was burning.
Due to the height of the crane, fire fighters were unable to reach the fire, which has been left to burn out.
No injuries were reported.
