Monsoon season hit hard on Monday unleashing fury on Manila and the nearby provinces of Luzon Island causing flash flooding and landslides leaving at least 20 people dead according to officials. It is reported that of the dead at least 17 were killed from landslides, while two died from drowning.
Adding fury to southwest Monsoon season which is from June to September was tropical storm Pabuk, which from the coast of Japan brought to the Philippines torrential rain and extreme weather. Weather officials are predicting that the torrential rain will continue until Wednesday.
Monsoon rain is common in the Philippines, but its intensity has rapidly grown in the past few years; Last year the extreme weather was responsible for killing over fifty people.
