Wall Street advanced on Thursday as the Dow Jones industrial average extended its recent winning streak to 10 days and once again closed at a record high.
Encouraging data kept investors optimistic about the U.S. economy as jobless claims dropped for a third straight week last week as the Dow's streak was the longest since 1996.
The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI surged 84 points to close at 14,539.14, and the Standard & Poor's 500 index finished at 1,563.23 which is around 2 points from its all-time closing high of 1,565.15.
