Retired U.S. basketball player Dennis Rodman arrived in Beijing on Friday (March 1) after visiting North Korea, where he met the country's young leader Kim Jong-un. Rodman had been in the reclusive state to film a television documentary with representatives of the Harlem Globetrotters celebrity team. Rodman walked through arrivals in Beijing's Capital International Airport and refused to answer questions from the media. But, according to Reuters, Rodman told a Chinese government news agency, that Kim, like his grandfather and his father, are great leaders, and Kim is ‘an awesome kid.’ Photographs taken during Rodman's visit show him enjoying a game seated beside 30-year-old Kim, who has launched two long-range rockets and carried out a nuclear weapons test during his year in power. Kim is reported to be an avid NBA fan and had pictures taken with players from the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers during his school days in Switzerland. Rodman, now 51 years old, won five NBA championships in his prime, achieving a mix of fame and notoriety for his on- and off-court antics. The United States is leading a drive in the United Nations to have stricter sanctions imposed on North Korea following its nuclear test two weeks ago. Video Source: Reuters
