FIFA announced on Tuesday that goal-Line Technology will be used at the Confederations Cup this year and the World Cup in 2014.
FIFA said on its website that the decision was taken after the successful debut of Goal-Line Technology (GLT) at the Club World Cup in Japan last December.
The organization launched a tender on Tuesday, setting out its technical requirements.
Two GLT providers, GoalRef and Hawk-Eye, were licensed to be used in Japan, but FIFA has also invited tenders from other companies that pass its tests.
The organization said a third system had already passed examinations and that the providers were in licensing discussions, while a fourth system has also been tested with the results due this week.
FIFA intends to install goal-line technology at all 12 venues at the World Cup.
FIFA said interested companies can inspect Confederations Cup venues in mid-March and a final decision is expected in early April.
