Still, in the last few months alone, three other new female CEOs have emerged: Denise Morrison took the CEO post at Campbell Soup in August, Meg Whitman became Hewlett-Packard CEO in September, and Virginia Rometty was named CEO of IBM in October.
While the average earnings for women still lag behind those of men, Bloomberg News reported last year that women who head the nation's largest companies are earning substantially more than their male counterparts…averaging 14 million dollars in annual pay. This means that women earned 40 percent more than men beginning in 2009.
