Givenchy presented a Spring/Summer 2013 collection that was classically elegant with a pinch of edge, on Sunday at Paris Fashion Week. The collection successfully incorporated these two contrasting elements which has become the trademark of Givenchy creative director, Riccardo Tisci, who has been on the helm of the French label for the past eight years. Tisci’s latest collection was inspired by the 1960’s Givenchy archives, the traditional dress of nuns, and the work of Italian architect Carlo Molino. The result was a mixture of graphic silhouettes, precise lines, and a religious feel to the collection. Brass necklaces recalled priest collars and models presented dresses with angel wing-like panels printed to their backs. Fabrics used in the collection included lace, silk, chiffon, organza and duchess satin. The color palette was restrained comprising of black, white, dove grey, baby blue with the occasion touch of metal and silver.
