Making waves at Bells Beach, in Victoria, Australia was surfer Adriano de Souzo: The Brazilian surfer won the Rip Curl Pro, to become the first Brazilian man to win the prestigious surfing event. De Souza won with a score of 16.26 to 15.83 after an epic Easter swell that saw some awesome surfing from all competitors.
De Souza was humble but proud after his win:
"I'm just like so proud of myself you know. This is going to be here my name forever. I knew it would be tough and hard and hard work but I know my potential you know. Everyone supported me in Brazil saying 'you can go', 'you can go', but it's nothing linked together. Some part of my life it would be really good in the middle then fall apart at the end but this one, my fourth win in WCT, and this was the most important for sure."
The victory makes De Souza number 4 in the championship standing which is led by U.S surfer, Kelly Slater
