A Labradoodle groomed to resemble a lion caused panic on the streets in Norfolk, Virginia on Tuesday (January 8) when people mistook the dog for a lion.
Several people called 911 and reported a "baby lion" on the loose after seeing the 3-year-old dog on the street.
After the panicked calls police called the Virginia Zoo to make sure all of their lions were accounted for, which they were.
The "lion" was later identified as a dog named Charles the Monarch that was groomed by his owner to honor the mascot Big Blue the lion.
His owner, Daniel Painter, said this was not the first time Charles has been mistaken for a lion since they live near the zoo.
