Japan’s First New Rocket In 12 Years Fails To Launch

Category: Technology / Aug 27, 2013 9:42AM EDT

Failing to launch on Tuesday was Japan’s first new rocket in 12 years after a problem with the positioning was detected: This comes as a massive blow to the Japanese hope of building a multi-billion dollar satellite launch industry. There has been no reports thus far on if the launch will be attempted again or the cause of the failure.

The takeoff was broadcast live over the internet but the rocket failed to launch at the end of the countdown. The rocket was supposed to take a telescope into space for observation of the solar system. The full impact the failure has on Japan’s satellite industry is yet to be determined.
