Serial child molester Jerry Sandusky, a former Pennsylvania State University football coach was sentenced to 30-60 years in prison on Tuesday, for abusing young boys for more than a decade. The sentence by Judge John Cleland in Centre Country Court put the 68 year old retired defensive coordinator in prison for the rest of his life.
Prosecutor Joseph McGettigen commented on the verdict: "I believe the sentence that the court imposed today was a wise and proper one, and that it reflected the seriousness of the defendant’s crimes, the harm that he caused and the need to remove him from society. The victims' statements were a vivid reminder of the defendant's brutal crimes, though no reminder was needed,"
Sandusky wearing a red prison uniform maintained his innocence in court:
"The defendant’s behavior and statements today were consistent with the behavior throughout the period of time covered by the trial. That is he displayed deviance, narcissism, a lack of feeling for the pain he caused others and to the end, an unwillingness to accept responsibility," An attorney on Sandusky’s defense team confirmed that they would file an appeal in the next ten days
