Jump In U.S. Factory Orders Puts S&P 500 Within Distance Of All-Time Intraday High

Wall Street rose on Tuesday after a rise in U.S. factory orders put the S&P 500 just within distance of its all-time intraday high. The S&P all-time high is 1,576.09, set Oct. 11, 2007. Data showed February factory orders climbed 3 percent, helped by a surge in demand for volatile aircraft, the Commerce Department said Tuesday. The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI was up 83.90 points, or 0.58 percent, at 14,656.75. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX was up 9.51 points, or 0.61 percent, at 1,571.68. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC was up 24.75 points, or 0.76 percent, at 3,263.92. (Video Source: REUTERS)
