Christie’s Auction House will make history as they expect to break a new record when they sell the largest orange colored diamond at auction next month in Geneva. This comes part of the ‘Magnificent Jewels’ sale next month, and this spectacular stone is known as ‘The Orange’ and it’s a 14.82 karat diamond.
The piece, unique in every way was expressed by Rahul Kadakia, the head of jewelry for Christie’s:
"It's great because, you know, stones of this nature of this color are not just looked at for their size and color and clarity and price per karat, and they’re looked at as works of art. You know, this is indeed a great work of in the world of gems and jewelry."
It is expected that this lavish orange diamond will fetch anywhere between $17-20 million. We will know exactly how much when it goes under the hammer on November 12th as part of 280 lots sale which is expected to exceed $100 million in sales.
