The body of a man discovered at a trash recycling center on the outskirts of the English city of Bristol has been formally identified as Garrett Elsey, a 22-year-old student from Canada.
Elsey was found dead at New Earth Solutions recycling plant on Thursday (September 27) morning, less than a day after he arrived in the city.
Police had searched out locations across Bristol that were on a recycling bin collection route before isolating one street, which remains sealed off.
Elsey's family, who live in Alberta, Canada, said he arrived in the city to study for a master's degree at Bristol University, having recently graduated from Ottawa's Carleton University with a degree in political science and history.
In a statement Bristol University said it was saddened to hear of the tragic death of one of its students and added that Elsey had recently arrived to begin studies for a Master of Science degree in International Security.
Police say they are keeping an "open mind" as to how Elsey died and are continuing investigations.
