U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama paid her respects at Berlin's Holocaust memorial on Wednesday (June 19).
Accompanied by her daughters and security agents, Michelle Obama walked between the large grey tomb-like slabs of the city center monument.
Her visit to the memorial came as part of a scheduled itinerary for U.S. President Barack Obama's family in the German capital during his first official visit.
In addition to the Holocaust memorial trip, the First Lady is also expected to take in other historic Berlin sights including Checkpoint Charlie and the Berlin Wall memorial.
The U.S. president, meanwhile, is set to hold a joint press conference after talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and later give a large-scale speech near the Brandenburg Gate.
