New Orleans put on an awesome show as Mardi Gras was in full swing Tuesday at noon, despite the threat of rain. Beads, colorful floats and dancing highlighted the festive mood of the city. The celebration is expected to attract about a million people and generate an estimated $300 million USD.
Mardi Gras marks the end of Carnival Season: People seemed in high spirits even after weeks of partying as they tossed beads around and cheered in the streets. Most of the revenue generated from the event is from hotels, restaurants and bars.
