Just when we thought the polar vortex was behind us New Yorkers, Mother Nature has dealt another round of bitter cold and heavy snow. Winter Storm Janus has been moving across the US today with freezing temperatures, icy winds and lots of snow. At least one foot of snow is expected to drop in New York City today.
The polar front is expected to drive freezing conditions across the East coast anywhere from 10-25 degrees Fahrenheit, below average. Storm warnings have been put into place for New York City, and southern parts of the state.
Visibility will be poor, wind chill will be 10 below zero later this evening, and the heavy snow will turn hazardous. The heaviest snow will fall this evening as conditions are expected to get better by Wednesday.
