A Milan court sentenced former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to seven years in jail and banned him from public office after finding him guilty of paying for sex with a minor and abusing his powers of office to cover up the affair.
In the ruling, handed down by three female judges at a Milan court on Monday, the 76-year-old multi-billionaire media tycoon and former Prime Minister of Italy, who resigned in November 2011 in the wake of the scandal that led to this trial, was found guilty of having sex with a Moroccan prostitute, who was just 17 years old at the time, at his infamous “bunga-bunga” parties. However, Berlusconi will not have to serve any jail time unless the sentence is confirmed on appeal, as there are two more levels of appeal before the sentence would become final.
