Paleontologists Unearth 130 Million Year Old Marine Reptile Fossil

Paleontologists in Colombia unearthed a unique find, when they discovered a fossil that is 130 million years old. The skeleton is that of a plesiosaur. The animal has a long neck, flat broad body is 8 meters long, has a short tail, and its natural habitat was the ocean- but a warmer ocean then it is today.

The fossil was found in an area of Colombia that would have been under water, as Colombia at that time was under marine flooding.

These mammals have been found in Australia, North America, Northern Europe and Antarctica. They were first seen over 205 million years ago, but became quite common during the Jurassic period
