Peruvian officials destroyed more than three tons of illegal drugs on Thursday (July 18) in the third massive drug burn off so far this year.
The Peruvian Interior Minister oversaw the weighing, testing and destruction of nearly 6,900 pounds of narcotics including cocaine, marijuana and opium.
More than half the total destroyed on Thursday came from cocaine base with another nearly 1,000 kilograms from purified cocaine.
Peru is one of the world's largest producers of cocaine along with Colombia and Bolivia.
The South American country has destroyed a total of more 17 tons of illegal narcotics so far this year.
