New York City police questioned a suspect in connection with the death of a subway rider on Tuesday (December 4). The suspect was taken into custody for allegedly shoving a man off of the platform and into the path of an oncoming train at the Times Square Subway Station. The 58-year-old victim tried to climb back onto the platform, but couldn't get out of the way in time. Witnesses told police the suspect was mumbling to himself before he and the victim began arguing on the platform. A bystander recorded the argument and turned the video over to police who released it to the public on Monday (December 3) evening. Employees from a deli where the suspect had worked tipped off authorities after they recognized his voice from the video. Police identified the suspect after searching through surveillance footage from subway stations and area stores.
