Ahead of their public debut not one but five cheetah cubs were at play at a zoo in Western Tokyo: They were born last month to parents with the distinctive stripes that make them “King Cheetahs”. The King Cheetah gene is recessive which makes them rare both in the wild and captivity.
The cubs will now call Tama Zoological Park home, and will be one of only a couple of dozen ‘King Cheetahs’ in the world. With the current newborn cubs the park now has a total of 22 cheetahs.
