The University of Rhode Island is investigating reports that a gunman was on Campus, in Kingston, Thursday. Students and teachers were urged to seek shelter as there was a threat of an active shooter on campus. Classes were consequently cancelled at the 1,200 acre campus, they are however scheduled to resume tomorrow. Police found that there was no evidence of the alleged gunman after the lockdown. The cancelling of the classes was done as a precautionary method. Yet police remain on high alert for all and any possible shootings after the tragic school shooting in Connecticut, in December where 20 young children and six adults were killed.
