Britain’s Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Will and Kate are awaiting the arrival of their first baby due any day now. As the world waits to see if it is a boy or a girl, we are left to speculate what kind of parents they will make, and what kind of a life the royal heir will have.
The couple has said to want to be modern parents but how possible will it be for the royal baby to have a somewhat normal life under the glare of the media spotlight?
Royal historians are now putting in their two cents about what kind of parents they think the royal pair will be and what kind of life the baby will have:
"What we've seen with William and Kate up to date is that they lead as normal a life as they possibly can give the rather curious world in which they live. So you can be fairly certain they both will be very hands on parents and they will be very anxious to give the child as normal an upbringing as possible."
"Prince William and Kate are naturally domestic in a way that Prince Philip and the Queen were not. Not because they were neglectful of their domestic duties but because the Queen and Prince Philip came of a generation where your duty was considered much more to the public, that's a crucial difference there if you like, so to that extent I think, yes, Kate and Wills will be more natural parents."
"The media is so intrusive now, there is so much of it, and it is so competitive and it's 24/7, which it wasn't, even in the days when Prince William was born and certainly not when Prince Charles was born, so that is a problem, but hopefully, there is a sort of general feeling that children are given more respect and more privacy than adults and if that privacy is in any way invaded then people get into trouble basically."
"The Middleton family will no doubt be very heavily involved and they've obviously been tremendously supportive in every possible way and from what we hear Prince William very much enjoys the time that he spends with them and finds them a very united and stable family, something which he himself unfortunately didn't have."
The baby will be announced as according to royal tradition by a letter on Buckingham Palace announcing the arrival of the newborn.
