The city Santa Maria is grieving on Monday, as they begin to bury some of the hundreds who died in this weekend’s nightclub fire in Brazil.
More than 230 people died at Kiss nightclub after it went up in flames on Sunday, most of them college students between the ages of 18 and 25.
In an act of kindness, Santa Maria's Mayor said the city will pay for the funeral expenses of the families that cannot afford the costs.
It could be months before this city in southern Brazil begins to move on from this tragedy.
News of the tragedy reverberated around the world, leaving many to mourn.
Inspectors believe the blaze began when the band’s pyrotechnics show ignited foam sound insulating material on the ceiling, leaving many to choke to death.
Police arrested three people and are searching for a fourth in connection with the fire.
