In a unique discovery, scientists have unearthed the remains of 11 pre-Incan mummies buried at an archeological site near a Lima sports club. The bodies are said to be from the years 200 to 700 AD as part of the Lima culture.
The series of bones belong to two different cultures: One being the Lima the other remains from the Yschma culture which is 1100 to 1400 AD. Scientists have marveled at how the human remains have stayed intact for over centuries considering the construction around the area and the changing environment.
Researchers also found that the bodies were buried with offerings; The sex of the bodies is still unknown. Research on the bodies will continue till they are brought to Peru’s National Museum.
