With a cold wave sweeping north east China on Tuesday, “rime ice” or white ice formed from freezing water vapor has covered trees and mountains after a snowfall, creating inspiring views of the landscape. With everything from trees, plants to mountaintops glazed with the ice, visitors to the region are being treated to beautiful winter scenes amidst seemingly random rolling fogs.
The weeping willows in the forest have taken on frost and glitter light off the snow ice, while fogs linger and set off a fairytale atmosphere. However, local meteorologists predict that the temperature will start to rebound when the cold wave ends Thursday.
Winter season draws photography enthusiasts to the area for a chance to snap some spectacular winter wonderland pictures of ice covered trees: The best time to view the wonder is from November to February.
