At least three NATO soldiers and one Afghan civilian were killed in a suicide attack on Wednesday according to afghan officials. Two civilians were also wounded before being taken to hospital. In a statement NATO said that three of its service members died following an insurgent attack in eastern Afghanistan but did not give further details. Violence has surged across Afghanistan since the Taliban begun its yearly summer offensive in April, vowing to target Afghan government and security forces as well as 130,000 foreign troops in the country. Despite a recent surge in militant attacks, with deaths blamed on NATO-led troops and Afghan forces declining sharply, the United Nation said on Wednesday that civilian casualties have dropped by 15% in the first six months of the year.
