They look like the clothes made by famous Italian designer Missoni, They were actually designed by Missoni, but they don’t carry the hefty Missoni price tag. One of the hottest Italian designers has teamed up with Target, one of the largest discount retailers, to offer their customers a sleek designer look without the cost. People are clamoring to get their hands on these cheap designer items, so much so, Target’s website crashed yesterday due to the high amount of traffic. Target’s site was back up and running today, but after yesterday’s purchases, most items are out of stock. Not only were people clicking away to buy the highly coveted collection of clothing, apparel, accessories, and house wares, but people were lining up around the block at Target stores across the country, starting as early as 5:30 am yesterday. The seach for ‘Missoni for Target’ items in stores revealed slim stock, as stores hurry to replenish shelves that were ransacked by eager customers and professional shoppers hoping to turn the product for a quick resale at a higher price through services like eBay. Target has been working with Italian luxury knitwear designer Missoni for a year to create and launch a line of 400 items unique to the national retailer. Missoni is known for colorful zig-zag stripes on items including knit dresses, tights, sweaters, rain boots, luggage, dinner ware, iPad and iPod covers and even furniture. Target employees have said more shipments are on the way to stores over the next few days to replenish stock that sold out within hours.
