Japanese television crew captured a rare tornado in Japan hovering over the port city of Arida on Wednesday (November 14).
The tornado, filmed by public broadcaster NHK from a helicopter, did not reach land but remained out at sea.
NHK said there was no damage caused to the port city and that the tornado lasted about ten minutes before it dissipated and disappeared.
However, Japan's meteorological agency has issued warnings of similar tornados across Japan following freak hail storms and weather patterns, especially on the coast bordering the Sea of Japan.
Tornados, though infrequent in Japan, are not unheard of.
In May 2012, a massive tornado hit eastern Japan and killed a 14-year-old teenager, injuring dozens others.
