U.S. Navy Satellite Is Launched Aboard Atlas V Rocket

The U.S. Navy's Mobile User Objective System (MUOS-2) satellite was launched into orbit on Friday (July 19), from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The MUOS-2 satellite is a next-generation military satellite, and is designed to provide members of the Armed Services with enhanced communications capabilities.

The launch was briefly delayed due to weather concerns, but within a few minutes, it went ahead as planned.

The satellite was sent into space aboard an Atlas V rocket at 9:00 EST (1300GMT).
