Stocks ended flat on Tuesday after FedEx (FDX.N) cut its profit forecast and investors pulled back after last week's rally on central bank stimulus.

Shares of FedEx Corp fell just over 3 percent after the company cut its profit forecast for its fiscal year 2013, saying that a weakening world economy had prompted customers to shift toward lower-priced shipping.

Shares in Europe dipped amid signs of slowing economic growth as doubts grew over Spain's willingness to ask for an aid package, raising new concerns about Europe's fiscal crisis.
