U.S. stocks edged lower in early trade on Monday but rebounded in late afternoon trade as the S&P 500 advanced for the seventh straight day and as the Dow set another all-time high.
Stocks were mixed earlier after weak Chinese macro data released over the weekend.
Data released over the weekend showed China’s inflation at a 10-month high in February while factory output and consumer spending failed to beat expectations.
The Dow Jones industrial average, S&P 500 and Nasdaq composite all gained about 0.3 percent for the day, and the Dow set another all-time high close of 14,447, up 50 points from Friday’s close.
