Confusion surrounded the exact whereabouts of former South African President Nelson Mandela on Friday (December 14) following local media speculation he is not being treated at the One Military hospital in Pretoria, as previously thought.
Earlier in the week, it was that Mandela was at the One Military hospital, but on Thursday (December 13) evening a local radio station and local press began speculating that Mandela was not there.
Some sources placed him at the Mediclinic Heart Hospital and members of the media have started camping outside the facility.
Presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj said in a statement issued on Thursday (December 14) that Mandela was being treated in Pretoria but the government had "refrained from disclosing the hospital in order to ensure privacy."
Media crews also continue to follow developments from outside the One Military Hospital and Mandela's Johannesburg home.
