Whitney Houston: The Woman Who Nearly Had It All

Born in New Jersey to a Gospel Singing mother she was the youngest of three who started her career modestly in the junior choir at the age of 11. Her self- titled debut album was released in 1985 and Rolling Stone called her "one of the most exciting voices in years".

But when did the troubled star become just that, troubled? The rumor mill began churning after the star meet Bobby Brown in 1989; they dated for three years and married in 1992 to 2007. The late 1990's saw Houston the Queen of the charts behavior change. Houston described Brown her "drug" as the media begun to speculate that Houston was involved in drugs and in a violent relationship with her then husband bobby brown.

The world now mourns the death of a star, who sold over 170 million albums worldwide. She was the only artist to have seven consecutive number one songs on the charts. Her legacy will be lived through her one daughter, Bobbi Kristina Houston. A star who's light flickered ever so briefly but so significantly. Whitney Houston, the woman who nearly had it all
