Firefighters battled the relentless flames that engulfed the mountains of Southern California on Friday that caused the evacuation of thousands as seven homes and numerous buildings went up in flames. More than 22,800 acres of terrain inside the Bernardino National Forest have been burned according the U.S Forest Service.
The fires begun on Monday and by Thursday rescue efforts had made progress but still 6,000 residents had been ordered to evacuate. Around 3,000 firefighters, 17 water dropping helicopters and 10 air tankers have been assigned in the rescue effort.
No injuries or fatalities have thus far been reported, but many buildings homes and vehicles have been destroyed by the relentless flames. By Thursday evening however the rescue teams had made significant progress in containing the blaze.
