Former F1 champions Williams hope to be first again after finally unveiling their 2013 Formula One car on Tuesday (February 19) at the Barcelona circuit where they were winners last year. The last of the 11 teams to show off their new car, Williams believe the FW35 is an improvement on the FW34 that took Venezuelan driver Pastor Maldonado to their first victory in nearly eight years last May. Williams are the second most successful team in Formula One in terms of constructors' championships with nine, to Ferrari's 16. Maldonado is confident Williams will have a strong season and the car will be more competitive in races, starting with the season opener in Australia on March 17. "We are looking forward to being slightly more competitive (and) to be very close to the top teams," Maldonado said. "I think it's possible because last year we (had) been many times even ahead of them. The Venezuelan won the Spanish Grand Prix last year but only finished in the top 10 on four other occasions and this is something Maldonado wants to improve on this season. "We need to be working as strong as a team always and I really hope to be in the top 10 consistency this season which is going to be difficult but I think it's going to be a very tight season again," he said. "We need to fight every race we night to fight every time and we'll see. I feel very optimistic with this car and I will do my very best to be at the top." The team said more than 80 percent of the car is new, including the gearbox, rear suspension, radiators, floor, exhausts, bodywork and nose. Video Source: Reuters
